Not knit knit blouse

Ah, had a blog break.
In the mean time, I experimented with this top.
The 'not knit knit' meaning that I did not knit this
but purchased the already (machine) knit angora mix fabric
and sewed it into an oversized pullover blouse.
Heh heh. Heh.

Dress for Noor

Dress for Noor

I made one for Lieveke.
And for the sake of balance/love
had to make one for Noor too.

Terrific pdf pattern, Jenny Gordy's Tova.
Much easier than I thought :
great and fast sewing fun.
The fabric is a lightweight brushed denim, very soft yet warm.
Basic and classic winter wear.

Pretty delicate

{k11} Cirriform

Amazing, the long lost Scarfshop parcel, sent on the 15th of september 2011,
has already arrived.
Just when I finished my cirriform scarf.  Can't complain. Abundance.
Mmm thinking up a new and oversized knit gather cardi,
the third photo is a mock up,
the handknit version will be made up of endless stockingstitch (of course).

Simple comme : V-pullover

Homemade basic.
Double knit pierced/slashed fabric, originally Tom Ford.
Indigo on black. V-line. Shirt-dress.
Pattern cross-over between Nani Iro T shirt dress and dolman basic top.
Sewn in a record half hour, bias edges included.
The supple knit surprisingly easy to handle.
Comfy. I have been wearing this a lot.

Amazing. 6!
A celebratory homemade dress was in order.
The party girl is currently too busy to pose
riding her new fantastic bike :)
Pattern from an out of print  2006 Japanese girl-dress sewing book.

'Then, methought, the air grew denser, perfumed from an unseen censer
Swung by Seraphim whose foot-falls tinkled on the tufted floor.
`Wretch,' I cried, `thy God hath lent thee - by these angels he has sent thee
Respite - respite and nepenthe from thy memories of Lenore!
Quaff, oh quaff this kind nepenthe, and forget this lost Lenore!'
Quoth the raven, `Nevermore.'

影 ka-ge

Kage sheen

They say
the soul is seamed with the shadow
and when you move
they flow in harmony.

I was so so lucky to test knit Kirsten's wonderful new design.
Utterly beautiful. Utterly wearable too. Looks chic on jeans even.
Stunning linen yarn too...
Ravelry details of my test.
(Sorry for the fuzzy ipad pics, my trusty little fujicamera has retired...)

Somewhat blurry and wee bit hazy. Definitely fragile.
Looking after a very sick little one (Noor),
who, in between coughing-fits, makes wonderful and dreamy art in sweet pastel tints.

Cheekily (dis)placed

Gorgeous new 'displaced' hat in sumptuous new yarn in splendid blue shade.
Was napped by a kid right from under my needles.
Says she likes the french artist hat thing (she means beret)
and since she did a photo shoot all nice and sweet
she should just keep it and I could make myself a new one.

More cheek here and here.

Little Buddha

Giggles are uplifting.
In the brightest reddish velvetish pinks, a Zambesi outfit revisited.
The vibrant Salvia red is truly one of my favorites.
So intense, so mesmerizing. Fauve.

I am struck with a nasty cold cum yuk coughs.
Won't stop me from thinking of knitting though.

Simple comme : study

I am studying.
My own summer sewn top design, attempt at design
simple, wide and comfy, biassed crisp finishing.
for on jeans or footless tights or maxi skirt or slip or...
there was 'grid'(Alexander Henry cotton) :  batsleeves, deep round neck, flip-over-waist-band
and there is 'la chartreuse' (crinkly wrinkly linen)  : same sleeves, same neck, darts and insert waistband
now 'Trombi' (a Marimekko fabric) : same sleeves, rounded boat neck, long shirt (no waist shaping).
This Trombi is definitely too big (somehow the Marimekko cotton falls much wider) and needs a bit of a crop I think... But the journey is the destination.  Making is great fun.

Oh and, this is simply breathtaking : Issey AW 2011, sigh, patternmaking a thousand beautiful steps further...

Passionate acorns

A new cardigan for the miss.
I worked on this off and on.
Loved it, hated it. ripped it, reworked it, put it away, dug it up again, gave up, picked up again and ...stuck with it.
Now, it's pretty good.
She is so happy with it.
That means I am happy too. It really does.
We are having the big summer holidays here
and after 5 weeks together, we tend to fight like cats at times.
She is so stubborn and so passionate.
She gets it from me, no doubt.

Encore une fois
Faux bois

A 'grown up' pdf file of the faux bras how to, click here to download if you want some too :).
Made two new versions : 'faux bois' (imitation wood) and 'encore une fois' (one more time).

Simple comme : satchel

a home sewn leather satchel from a small distressed but softly supple patent hide
bag and strap fully lined with sturdy Belgian linen
-which serves as handy interface for the attaching of the strap-
plenty of space for crafty and other stuff
favorite bit : the little hole of the front flap.
